Successful completion of a challenging project!
During the regular TÜV inspection of a wind turbine, defects were found on the outer skin that could have led to a possible shutdown. A comprehensive refurbishment was therefore necessary. In the course of this, the mobile radio technology installed there also had to be dismantled.
On behalf of o2 Telefónica, we at ABEL Mobilfunk were responsible for ensuring mobile phone coverage during the entire refurbishment phase by setting up a replacement site.
That's how we managed it:
1. Temporary mobile phone solution: we first erected a 36-meter lattice mast to ensure uninterrupted mobile phone coverage during the work.
2. Dismantling the existing technology: The mobile phone system on the wind turbine mast was carefully dismantled in preparation for the renovation work.
3. Refurbishment of the outer skin: An external service provider undertook the repairs and coated the outer skin of the wind turbine with a special industrial paint.
4. Modernization during reconstruction: Once the refurbishment was complete, the mobile phone system was reassembled - including a new walk-on antenna platform and cable routes installed using modern materials to protect the outer skin.
Dismantling the temporary solution: Once the new mobile phone system had been successfully commissioned, the temporary lattice mast was dismantled again.
This project shows once again how flexible and solution-oriented we can make our services.
